2011 Calendar - July

Hey everyone!

As some of you already know, I have been working on my 2011 Calendar since the end of December. I just finished with July and thought I would go ahead and post it on here. I am thrilled with the way it turned out. I just bought the Nifty Fifties Cricut cartridge, which I love by the way, and wanted to go with something other than the usual Red White and Blue that is used for July. I love my country but I also love to think outside the box! Now I'm off to get busy on the FCCB challenge for this week....Spring. The word alone brings joy to my heart!

Erin go braugh!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Erin go braugh! (Ireland forever). In honor of SPD I have made a card which just so happens to be gold and green, the colors required in the FCCB challenge this week. Below is the card I will be entering. I have to say, when I read that the challenge this week involved the colors gold and green I thought, "Ugh, Packers colors". No good Bears fan would ever go near those colors. So to keep it as far away from the Green Bay Packers colors as I could I added in purple, orange, red and a few different shades of green. I used the Designers Calendar cartridge for the shamrock and the Storybook cartridge for the letters. Funny story here, on the inside of the card you will see it says "Ireland" on the top. I had originally stamped that on top but it just didn't look right. I figured it was fine and reminded myself that I have to stop this perfectionist nonsense way of thinking. About an hour later Patrick is looking at it with a smirk on his face. It turned out I spelled Ireland wrong... as in Irland. Yep, Irland forever. Larry the Cable Guy would have appreciated the way it sounds! Well, I fixed it, the card is done and ready to be submitted to FCCB. Wish me luck!

Favorite Things

I wonder if all crafty people are like me when it comes to favorite things. My favorite colors to work with are pink and brown. My favorite Cuddlebug envelope is Swiss Dots. My favorite glue pen is the Close to my Heart one and my favorite Cricut cartridge has to be Storybook. Here is a favorite card I made for my husband this past Valentines Day which incorporated all of the above.

Patrick really liked this card too as he still has it sitting on his night stand so he can see it every morning when he wakes up. Yep, that is exactly what he told me, which is why he is my favorite person to make a card for!

I would love to hear, or see, a favorite of yours. What's a project you did that you can say is a favorite of yours? What colors do you love to work with? What is a favorite cartridge you seem to always go to when you can't seem to find just what you need? I look forward to hearing!

Dress card made top five!

What a great way to start out a Wednesday! It must have been very difficult for the ladies at FCCB to pick the top five as there were so many awesome cards that were created! Being chosen in the top five earns a "blinky" to display on my blog page, however being new to blogging I'm not sure how I display it so I just copied and pasted the above for now.

I haven't had much time this week to create. The flu found it's way to our home via my son and husband so between taking care of them and constantly disinfecting everything I'm left with just being able to make cards in my mind. I've come to the conclusion that I much prefer to make cards than chicken soup, that's for sure.

Dress Card

Hello all! My name is Susan and I've have been creating cards/scrapping for a liitle over a year now. My friend Laurie, aka Teacher, had introduced me to this wonderful world of papercrafts and as a result I have become her "Grasshopper".  I am also a bonafide member of the Paper Dolls scrapping group, a group of five creative and crazy gals that meet up once a month. I am very new at this blog stuff but my New Years resolution was to get with the program and figure the blog world out. It's easier than trying to lose weight, right? Okay, on to my very first published card.

I have been reading this great blog called Fantabulous Cricut, which Laurie had again introduced me to. Well, they have a wonderful challenge every Monday and I have been wanting to enter it for a while. This time I'm doing it. Below is the card I created using the "Summer in Paris" cartridge. I started by cutting out 2 images of the french maid to fit the 12x12 white cardstock paper. I then lopped off the poor gals head, arms and legs leaving just the dress on two cut images. I then took a piece of pink scrap paper and outlined just the bottom part of the dress, which creates the skirt, and attached it to one of the white images. I then stamped the other image "Just Fabulous" which is the inside of the card. Using a very small brad I connected the two images together at the middle of the waist. I then created the belt which is actually there to hide the brad. By using two pop dots on the back of the belt it raises the belt high enough that the brad doesn't show and the card can move without the belt having to move. Then of course my favorite part... bling it out with gems, gel pens, Stickles and feathers!

Oh how I love doing creative stuff!
