An Interesting Picture

Hey ladies! I'm keeping this short today, lucky you! lol! Just wanted to say hi and share a picture. Now I know this picture looks like it could be an album cover, if albums were still made, but it isn't. A while back my oldest son went to San Fransisco with a few friends and they were out messing around when my son took this picture of his friend. I really wish my son would go into photography, he has such a good eye for it. I mean, how interesting is the contrast in this picture? The hippie and the businessmen! To me it looks like something you would see in a magazine!

I plan on doing something with this picture, I just don't know what yet. Whatever I do it will be hanging on a wall in my home somewhere, even though I have no idea who this guy is! lol! Well, I am out for now. Since I've had a busy week and not much time to craft I'm hoping I will have something fun the next time I post. Hope you all have a great night!

"Sun"thing differant

I'm going to enter this artsy card into the Show and Tell challenge at http://www.craftingmisfit.blogspot.com/.  When I did this card I was just kind of messing around for fun but I ended up really liking it. I colored it all in with my chalks then did some stamping and embossing for texture. It's a little "sunthing differant", isn't it?

Thanks for stopping by! Don't forget...only three more days for the $15 gift card giveaway! See last Mondays post for details!

September Calendar done!

Before I start I want to remind everyone my $15 Archiver's gift card contest ends in 4 days! For details check out my post from Monday.  Now on to my September calendar..........................................

A few months ago I did a contest and asked for ideas that I could use in creating the month of September in my calendar. There were many great ideas but the winner, picked by my assistant Kiki, was Cindy at http://www.cindysantics.blogspot.com/. Cindy thought I should do fashion so fashion it is! Believe me when I tell you, I really had a tough time with this one. I had so many ideas come and go and I couldn't just pick one and do it! I started a few times and threw out what I had started because I just didn't like it. Then I decided to pick two colors and just go with it. I picked the dark grey and pink and just let it flow from there. So Cindy, I dedicate the month of September to you!

Step out of the Shadow!

Well, there you have it! My husband has already requested that for October I do Rocktober so I told him I would but he has to buy the supplies for it! LOL! I need a new Cricut and new cartridges and new Copic markers and new, well you get the point!

I'm going to enter this into the Inspire me Fridays link up party over at http://www.joyfulstamper.blogspot.com/. You should stop over, say hi to Maria and link up your projects too!

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget...4 more days! Kiki can hardly wait to do her job!

Have a great night/day/weekend! ;)

I heart Archiver's!

Hey ladies!

Ready for a few chuckles and a surprise? Just a fair warning, I'm not posting any craft project this time. Nope, today I am posting about other fun things so if you are still interested proceed with caution! *****************************************************************************

Oh, I'm so glad you're still with me, it will be well worth it. Many of you know I live in Minnesota. For me, the best thing about living in Minnesota is my beloved Mall of America, or MOA (pronounced mow a) as we locals call it. Many locals don't like this mall due to the crowds and the size. I say bring it on! With over 400 stores it is in my mind the best thing since hormone replacement therapy. Did I really just say that? Sorry, I'm in the middle of a hot flash right now. (Did you know your ovary can grow back? Yep, mine did but that's another post!) Ok, back to MOA. So yes, it is a very large mall and back in the day, say 5 years ago, I could walk around all day and night for days on end just taking it all in. Now when I go I have to make a list of stores I want to hit and try to get to them before my body tells me "forgettaboutit".  But when that happens I get a scooter and carry on my mission! Hey, don't knock those scooters, they are a flippin blast! Let's say I love the horn feature, he he he. One store I always go to is Archiver's, located on the 3rd level by Bloomingdale's. This store has just about everything a papercrafter would want and then some. Here's a picture:

I felt like such a tourist taking this picture but I don't care. I thought one of you may want to see it. Now I'm pretty lucky because I also have an Archiver's in the town I live in but it's not nearly as big as this one. What I'm starting to learn is just how big papercrafting is in Minnesota. I mean, it can snow as early as the beginning of October and as late as May- that's a lot of cold weather! So papercrafting is a great way for women to socialize in those long months. Actually, there was a movie a few years back with Rene Zellweger and Harry Connick Jr. (yum) called New In Town that was about a career minded big city girl moving to a small Minnesota town. Part of the story included the local women that scrapbook together and I have to say, that movie wasn't too far off the mark! Where was I, gez, oh yes, Archiver's. While I was at Archiver's I picked up a little somethin somethin for one of my lucky blog buds. (That's one of you if you're paying attention here). lol! I wanted to do something really nice for all you wonderful people that read my blog and leave me such kind comments. So starting today, any new comments left by a follower on this post or any new posts of mine for the next 7 days will be entered to win a $15.00 gift card from Archiver's! (Limit one comment per post, to keep it fair).

Value of $15.00

How do I pick the winner? Well, I don't pick the winner. And I don't do the random picker either. If you want to see how my winners are picked you will have to check out my blog entry from Monday, June 13th. Trust me, it's a very fair system! As a side note, if you win and you don't have an Archiver's by your home the online site does NOT accept gift cards YET (per the store manager). No worries. If you win you can either hold on to the card until they do start accepting them, which shouldn't be too long now, or you can go online and shop, tell me what you want and I will go to the store and pick it up for you. I will then mail it to you as long as postage is kept below $5.00 and your order is not exceeding $15.00. Of course, you could always come visit and I can take you to the store. It's your decision! ;)

I will post the video of the drawing and announce the winner on Tuesday, August 16th.

Now that we took care of that, want to hear about my Pajama Jeans I bought yesterday? (Yes, I did. And I LOVE them!) Goodness, hormones and stretchy jeans....I'm officially getting old(er).

Good luck ladies!

p.s. I almost forgot, you can follow my blog via email now! Thank you Rebecca at Sunshine Honeybee! I did it!

Banner Banter and more

Hello friends!

A little birdie, or shall I say mermaid, posted about a new weekly Show and Tell Challenge that is going on at http://craftingmisfit.blogspot.com/. Because I am so dawg gone proud of my banner I thought I would go ahead and enter this challenge. You should check out the blog, it sounds like it will be a lot of fun!

(Here's the original post)
Please forgive me as I have sinned, it's been once week since my last post. But before I'm condemned to blogger hell let me say this past week was crazy, just as I thought it would be in my last post. I do want to thank everyone that wished us a happy anniversary! That was very thoughtful of you. Now let's banner banter, shall we? So my dear friend Lu and her hubby are becoming parents for the first time. This is something they have wanted for a long time and to see how happy and excited they are just makes me so happy for them. Without going into a lot of detail, for their privacy of course, all I will say is that they will have two beautiful children very soon. They are going to be great parents, no doubt about it. On Saturday we had a shower for Lu and her husband. After all, every soon to be parent should have a shower no matter what the circumstances are. For her shower I created my first ever banner using some favorite colors of the mom to be. I think it came out pretty good considering I didn't even start working on it until Friday night and had it done by 2 pm Saturday. (Remember, I move like a turtle). I measured and cut the triangles using cardboard, applied the beautiful teal colored paper from TPC Studio, then cut and embossed the plain yellow and metallic colored paper to use on top. I then used brown ink to outline the edges and cut the letters from the Storybook cartridge. I then used a very thick foam from the Martha Stuart line to pop up the letters but I hated the way you could see the white foam under the letters so I took a black sharpie and ran around the edges of the foam so it wouldn't be so noticeable. It did make a huge difference! After attaching the letter I then added the embellishments and used a thick twine to hold it all together. Wanna see? Ok, ok, simmer down now....here it is! (Drum roll please........................)

I should have asked for a new camera for my anniversary. These pictures just don't do it justice. But you know what? Lu loved it and that's what matters. I'm also going to show you a little clipboard I made that was passed around at the shower. Being that it was a casual event the need for a sign in book would have been a little too formal so I decided this would be a good idea. I asked people to put down their favorite "parent remark" then sign their name to it. This way they could get some solid advise, (he he he) and also remember who attended.

This actually went over really big at the shower. After the gifts were opened Lu read all the comments and everyone had a good laugh. Some of the remarks were: "Don't make me stop this car"..... "Were you born in a barn?".....and the one my husband wrote was "Too much will make you go blind". (I'm sure he heard that one a lot.....lolololol).

So I hope you will all forgive me for committing my blogger sin of late.

Susan
