These ladies have what my son would call "mad skills". I don't know about the mad part but I do believe skill is something they do have, plus more! Now if you'll excuse me, I simply must go thank the Academy, my agent, my accountant and of course the big guy upstairs! (Hey now, let me bask in the moment) LOL!

Have a great day friends!

Fun Sun Card

Back in February my friend Laurie was selling some Close To My Heart stamps she was no longer using. There was a set in there called Treasures that had a beautiful sentiment, "Those who bring sunshine into the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves". I have wanted to use this stamp set since I bought it but didn't have a project to use it on until now. Over at the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge blog the Challenge Me Monday project is to use the summer sun. I put together this cute little card using not only the beautiful sentiment from the CTMH stamp set but also used my Cricut to cut the following images:

Sun: Designer's Calendar
Pot and stem: Wall Decor
Flower: George and Basic Shapes

I also used Peachy Keen stamps for the cute little faces and embossed with a Tim Holtz folder. (Which I decided to purchase after I saw the how cool it looked when my friend Lisa at indymermaid.blogspot.com used one).

After I embossed the background I decided to use the Tattered Angle spray in Denim for a deeper blue, it was messy to use but it came out kind of cool. I haven't entered a project into a challenge for a while now so wish me luck, I need it! lol!

Happy Sunday everyone! I hope the sun is out by you because it hasn't been out here in Minnesota for a while now. Kind of like the song says, "So I just did me some talking to the sun, and I said I didn't like the way he got things done, sleeping on the job, those raindrops keep falling on my head they keep falling"..... if the song is stuck in your head now there is really no need to thank me! ;)

Be good!

The Really worst Fathers Day card EVER!

Have you ever used a word and thought you knew what the word meant only to find out you were wrong? Then you feel like a big fool when someone tells you? Well I learned a BIG lesson about this very thing. I made my husband a really cute Father's Day card with an English gentleman stamped of the front, here's the picture:

So far so good, right? Well I thought it would be cute to have the inside say the following:

Now I don't know if you all know what "Wanka" means and before yesterday I thought I knew. I thought wanka was english slang for a buddy, chum, dude, something in that thought process. I've heard the phrase "you silly wanka" and thought it meant a funny dude. When my husband opened the card he complimented my creativity then when he opened to the inside his jaw hit the floor and his eyes bugged out of his head with a look of utter shock! You called me a wanka?!?! I could tell right then and there that obviously that word is not what I thought! He then showed me on google what the real definition is, and let me tell you I felt about an inch tall! Thank god he has a great sense of humor because we laughed about it all day yesterday. The worse part about this story is that on Friday I showed the card to my sixteen year old son and he told me dad would love the card. Then I find out that he knew all along but let me give it to him anyway! This may have been the worst ever Father's Day card but it turned out to be a story for the family books! And by the way, my husband is a handsome dude, not at all a wanka!

I hope you all had a good laugh, god knows we did!

The Irresistibly Sweet Award

Thank you Lisa!

The irresistibly sweet Lisa at http://www.indymermaid.blogspot.com/ was kind enough to pass this yummy award to me this weekend, thank you Lisa! As many of you may know, Lisa has such a wonderful blog and is a true artist with her creations. Best of all though, Lisa is just such a good person. If you haven't been to her blog you simply must stop over. And if you do follow her blog stop in and say hi, I know she would love to hear from you!

There are three rules for the award:

1) Send a thank you to the person who nominated you and include their link.
2) Answer 7 random facts about yourself.
3) Pass the award on to at least 8 other awesome blog buddies.

Seven facts, hmmmmm......

1). You will never see a project from me that includes clowns. (They creep me out).

2). A family friend was approached by John Wayne Gacy for a job. (Thank God he didn't meet with him. This could be why clowns freak me out).

3). I worked with children with severe disabilities until it proved to physically demanding for my health condition.

4). I used to love to play mud volleyball.

5). I gave my youngest son the middle name Aaron, after Elvis Aaron Presley.

6).  I love to garden, even if it kills me.

7).  I can count on one hand how many alcoholic drinks I have in a whole year.

One thing I love about these awards is it is kind of nice to remember things about yourself that you tend to forget about, wouldn't you agree? Now I am going to pass this on to 8 blogging buddies and I would highly recommend you pop over and say hi to them also! We all love to get comments so let's make sure we give them too! (And Lisa, just an fyi, if I could I would pass this on to you but you already have it!) :)

I have a winner for my blog candy contest!

Oh, am I excited today! Today is the day that I get to announce the winner of my first blog candy contest! I would like to thank my blog buddies who participated by leaving me ideas of what to do for the month of September in my calendar contest. The ideas were all excellent ones! However, per the rules I laid upon myself,  I could only chose one winner. :(

Well, guess what? The ideas were so good I couldn't decide! I don't have a random selector thingy and I had to think of something so I turned to my personal assistant Kiki. (Shadow is a boy and since boys aren't allowed in my "No Boys Allowed" room he can't be my assistant. He's okay with that though, as long as he can still sleep with me. Wait, I should rephrase that....lol). Back to Kiki and the winner now! I took and cut out square papers and wrote everyone's name and idea down. I then put a small piece of a dog treat right in the middle of each paper...oh yes, you know where I'm going with this, and then folded up and taped shut each entry.

After this task I tossed them all in the middle of the room and I let the dogs out, er, in! (Shadow was allowed entry but only as a witness). Here's the official video of the first ever Cricut and Grasshopper blog candy contest...drum roll.......

Why there is no sound to the video is way beyond me, I blame my husband as any good wife would do. lol! If you couldn't read who Ms. Kiki picked as the winner of the first blog candy giveaway it is....Cindy at http://cindysantics.blogspot.com/! {{Applause and cheers inserted here}}. Cindy left an idea of fashion so fashion it will be for my September calendar! Cindy has won an all expense paid vacation, no no no, that's Price is Right....Cindy has won a 6x6 mini calendar kit, fully loaded !

I will be heading over to let Cindy know the good news! Thank you all for your wonderful comments and ideas! I really do love blogging with you all! And I can't wait to do another blog candy contest so stay tuned! I hope you all have fun reading my silly blog, I really enjoy making people laugh and I hope you are laughing and not rolling your eyes! (That's my hubby's job, he he).

Have a great day and thanks again!

Punch anyone?

Creations with Christina did a fun link party last week asking for pictures of our desks. This week it's all about packing a punch, paper punches that is. When I saw the pictures people posted I realized I have far too few as you see in my picture. I love punches but the only time I buy them is when Joann's is having a 40% off sale so it's a slow process for me. I'm doing okay for only being in this for 2 years.....

Someday I will have a nice variety but for now I will drool over everyone else's! (Ok, not really, that's gross, lol). Now where's the punchbowl? :)

Blog issue - I'm the issue!

My blog was having issues where nobody can leave a comment. Your blogs should be protected as long as you don't have me around your computer as it was my own doing! Boy do I feel like a goof. Here I am offering a contest with blog candy but nobody can comment. I do have a good sense of humor but that is something I would never do on purpose! To my favorite blogging buddies, I am sorry if you did try to leave a comment and I hope you will stop back. To anyone new stopping in, hello, my name is Airhead, how do you do? :)

Here's the card I did yesterday.........

Please check out my contest and blog candy give away, you will find it under the calendar/contest/candy post. I HOPE I fixed this comment issue. If not I will be outside with my head buried in the sand.

Bug Bites Grillin and Chillin hop part 2!

Barb over at Bug Bites did it again! Week two of her AWESOME Grillin and Chillin blog hop once again delivered fantastic results and fantastic PEOPLE! For her first hop all I can say is that I can't wait until she does another! I put together this card today to celebrate sweet moments of summer. I used the Forever Young cartridge for the girl and the Storybook cartridge for the butterfly. The hardest part was by far the ladybug. I had such a hard time with that for some reason. My husband even tried his best to create one that didn't look smashed. Finally, I had to make a choice of either running to Michael's to buy a sticker or cut one out of a magazine. I chose the magazine as I knew if I went to Michael's I would be there for hours and would have spent far more money than I planned. I know you all know what I mean. Here's the card I'm linking up to the challenge:

I left the inside blank so if I need a quick card I'll have one ready. Thanks for stopping in and just a reminder, I am having a contest under my Calendar/Contest/Candy post and there is still time to enter.

Take care!

Calendar/ Contest / Candy

Ha, say that fast 3 times! So what's the deal you ask? Or maybe not, but if you are into getting free stuff you may like this! I have been slowly putting together my 2011 calendar and I have up to August finished. Want to see?

Not really always with a smile!
I added more blush to her!

I'm not real big into the country type look but I did like this paper and I thought it was appropriate for the month of August. Now pay attention because this is where the fun part for you begins, the contest! I need one of my wonderful followers to help me out with an idea for the month of September. I have no idea what theme to go with! I can't really go with the school theme because my youngest child will be 17 years old and the cute ABC's and school bus stuff doesn't really work for me anymore. Make sense?  And I really don't want to do a fall theme because, let's face it, summer has just started and doing that theme would be too depressing! So I thought I would do a contest asking for your ideas. It could be anything, color combos, cricut images, a theme, anything would help! From your ideas I will pick one to do and that person will win a 6x6 mini calendar kit to do a calendar of your own! Here's a picture of what you will win:

 This kit contains the following:
12 calendar pages
2 chipboard covers
2 binder rings
20 papers
1 sticker sheet
1 rub on sheet
2 punch out sheets
10 mini brads
3 fabric flowers
3 metal charms
3 chipboard shapes
2 metal tags
1 sheet page bubbles
16" ribbon

Everything you need to make a cute 6x6 calendar! So here's what to do to be entered:

1. Be a blog buddy (follower)
2. Leave a comment under this post with your suggestions
3. Make sure I have a way to get a hold of you to let you know if you win!

Pretty easy, huh?

I will post the winning idea on Monday, June 13th. Thanks for stopping in and I wish you all a wonderful day!

Where the magic happens..ha ha

I began following a new blog today, http://www.creationswithchristina.com/, and on it she asked people to take a quick picture of their desk and link the picture up to show others. I decided to do it for fun and because I think I may be the only crafter that can see my desk. Upon looking I noticed another crafter had a clean desk and lo and behold, her name is Susan also! Maybe there is something to this huh? :)

If anyone is wondering what it is I'm working on it is my calendar. Here it is June and I'm just now getting to the month of August, which I will post hopefully tomorrow.
