Bag Lady

Hello my blog buddies! It's Friday already, can I get a whoo hoo? I have had an awesome, but busy week. I went to the Goodwill store on Tuesday and after spending 20 bucks came home with enough stuff to fill a small craft room. The town I'm in has a Michael's, Joanne's, Archiver's and two Target stores. They donate unsold products to the Goodwill store, again in my town, and when you hit it on the right day it is like a crafter's dream come true! If this isn't sweet enough my order of Peachy Keen stamps arrived today. Ah yes, life is good. I didn't make any cards this week but I did get a few projects done. I made little tags for pots I have so I could tell what I have growing, which is Cilantro, Basil, Chives, Forget Me Nots, Daisies and Sunflowers. I am hoping to get my Heirloom tomatoes going next week. I also did this gift bag. I picked up this bag at the GW store and switched out the orange ribbon it had on it to a prettier pink one. I then used my Forever Young cartridge for the emblem and added some pearls. On the back of the bag is a beautiful sentiment by Babraham Lincoln (that's the way we pronounce it in my house thanks to Wayne World). I'm thinking of entering it in a challenge but mostly I did it for fun.

And here's the back.

I'll sing you a song

Hello blogger friends! I've been busy creating a card for K Andrew's Simply Sunday Challenge at Getting Cricky, check it out!

http://www.gettingcricky.com/2011/04/simple-sunday-challenge-ill-sing-you.html

The challenge calls for a music themed project and after much thinking this idea hit me. Have you ever had a song that is so beautiful it brings tears to your eyes? The classic Carole King song, "You've got a friend", is that song for me. If the lyrics aren't beautiful enough when it's sung by James Taylor, wow. I will post the lyrics after the picture for anyone who isn't familar with the song. Here's my card!

And the lyrics:

When you're down and troubled
and you need a helping hand
and nothing, nothing is going right.
Close your eyes and think of me
and soon I will be there
to brighten up even your darkest nights.

You just call out my name,
and you know wherever I am
I'll come running, to see you again.
Winter, spring, summer, or fall,
all you have to do is call
and I'll be there, yeah, yeah, yeah.
You've got a friend.

If the sky above you
should turn dark and full of clouds
and that old north wind should begin to blow
Keep your head together and call my name out loud
and soon I will be knocking upon your door.

You just call out my name and you know wherever I am
I'll come running to see you again.
Winter, spring, summer or fall
all you got to do is call
and I'll be there, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Hey, ain't it good to know that you've got a friend?
People can be so cold.
They'll hurt you and desert you.
Well they'll take your soul if you let them.
Oh yeah, but don't you let them.

You just call out my name and you know wherever I am
I'll come running to see you again.
don't you know that,
Winter spring summer or fall,
Hey now, all you've got to do is call.
Lord, I'll be there, yes I will.
You've got a friend.
You've got a friend.

Okay, now that I shared my "tears to my eyes" song I would like to hear if any of you have a song like this? Hmmmmmmmm? C'mon, I won't tell! :)

Bookmark back up

After making my sons birthday card and then the now infamous Peep project I decided to spend yesterday and today taking it easy and looking at my blogger friends projects. I feel the need to post something though so I'm pulling in a back up. Here is a bookmark I made quite a while back. I love it but soon I want to do a new one. I made this before I had my Cricut so it was all done the old fashion way. I then took it up to Kinkos to have it laminated. Just a little something I thought I'd share with you all!

Rock On!

My oldest son Richie will be 23 years old next Tuesday. I made this card for him as he loves rock music. When I say rock music I mean the classic stuff, not the head thrashing, screamming music some call rock now-a-days. Wait, that must be what they said about Elvis and the Beetles back in the day! LOL! Well, even if he did listen to that i would love him anyway. Richie is a snowboard instructor at Northstar Resort in Lake Tahoe, CA. and I am very proud of him. What I like best about this card is how I used gold cardstock, embossed it with the zigzag cuddlebug folder and scratched it up to give it a more metal look. The guitar was cut from the Wall Decor cartridge.

My hubby, 16 year old son and I also did a Peeps project for fun. My intentions were to enter it into a contest but I don't know. We had a blast doing it which is good enough for me. Here's a few photos from that:

It was a spoof of a Live Aid concert. If you can't tell who is who I'll break it down. Kiss (Piss), Sir Pelton John (Elton John), Pob Dylan (Bob), Pick Jagger (Mick), and Pina Turner (Tina). If any of you remember Mick and Tina doing a duet at Live Aid back in the 80's, that's what we were shooting for. We can be crazy in our home but we have fun!

Have a great day!

And they call it Puppy Love...

Ah, I can still hear Donnie Osmond singing that. Yes, I admit it, I loved Donnie and he was to be my husband when I grew up. Along with Shaun Cassidy, Scott Baio and so on, lol. So I guess I gave my age away huh? Okay, back to the puppy love. The page layouts below are my puppies, Shadow and Kiki. However, while I will take credit for my babies I can't take credit for the beautiful layouts that their ever so sweet pictures are in. That goes to my dear Friend Laurie at CraftingwithLu.blogspot.com. If you haven't checked out her blog yet you are missing out, she is mega talented! Last year for my birthday Laurie made these for me and I just now got around to hanging them in my office, or as it has become known, my "No boys allowed" room. Except Shadow, he is always an exception. Right now my exception is laying in his cozy bed right under my desk.

As you see Shadow is a Yorkie and if you look close at the bottom picture you can see his "big dog attitude". That big guy in the picture is Shadows nemisis, my hubby Patrick. (Patrick was a mess that day as we were on day 5 of our trip down the Mississippi in our boat). Shadow is a river rat through and through and loves being on the boat. Now for those of you still interested on to Ms. Kiki Anna.....

My diva princess! Kiki, my only daughter and the pride in my heart, came into our family unexpectedly. Back in 2003 while out to get dog food for Shadow there was an adoption program set up in front of the store. We had no plans for another dog but when my little boy Dennis saw this beautiful Shar Pei mix with almond eyes he just couldn't leave her there, and neither could we. We could tell Kiki had come from an abusive home. She was a very timid, scared girl. But with love from a good family, (that would be us..lol) she quickly became the sweet, confident girl she was born to be. While she isn't that crazy about being on the boat she is a sun goddess and loves warm. See her little pink quilted blanket in both pictures? Shadow and Kiki are like peanut butter and jelly, they just belong together.

Laurie, thank you so much for making these layouts for me. It is one of the best birthday gifts I have ever been given, and that my friend is the truth. Now blogger friends if you read all this I know you just may have a little soft spot for animals. If so, I would love to give you the chance to brag in the comments box below. If you have done projects on your pets in the past and want to leave a link for all to check out, please do! I know I would love to see them! If you are new to my blog, welcome! I hope you become a follower and in return you will get a new follower also!

Hope you all have a great day!

It's a Link up Love Party!

Who doesn't love a party? While I was checking out one of my followers sites today I noticed she had linked up to www.gettingcricky.com. Being the curious blogger I've become I decided to check it out and am now inviting you all to do the same.Just click below and join in the fun! One thing you must do is put something in your post that people don't know about you so here's mine. I have tremors in both hands. If you have every had trouble putting a small gem on something try to do it with your hands shaking, it's not easy. But I am so stubborn I don't give up! Ok, that was two things, I'll stop right there! I hope you join in the fun and also, if you are a visitor here I'd love to have you follow and in return I'd be happy to do the same!

Spring Theme card

Ah Spring, I love it! When I saw the Monday Challenge at FCCB was to create a Spring themed project I was more than happy to oblige. This winter has been very long and I am at the end of my rope waiting for it to end.  I used the Cricut Lite Lacy Labels cartridge for the layered design on the front. I also used Swiss Dots to emboss the pink layer. I then used a Close to my Heart butterfly stamp to give the butterfly design from the cartridge a little more depth. The flowers are also Close to my Heart which I colored and added little pink pearls in the center. For the inside I used the left over piece of black paper when I cut the design. I left it blank so I can fill it in for an appropriate occasion, like for someone feeling down because winter won't leave us alone! Hmm.... maybe I should give the card to myself. lol................
