Hello blogger friends! I've been busy creating a card for K Andrew's Simply Sunday Challenge at Getting Cricky, check it out!
http://www.gettingcricky.com/2011/04/simple-sunday-challenge-ill-sing-you.html
The challenge calls for a music themed project and after much thinking this idea hit me. Have you ever had a song that is so beautiful it brings tears to your eyes? The classic Carole King song, "You've got a friend", is that song for me. If the lyrics aren't beautiful enough when it's sung by James Taylor, wow. I will post the lyrics after the picture for anyone who isn't familar with the song. Here's my card!
And the lyrics:
When you're down and troubled
and you need a helping hand
and nothing, nothing is going right.
Close your eyes and think of me
and soon I will be there
to brighten up even your darkest nights.
You just call out my name,
and you know wherever I am
I'll come running, to see you again.
Winter, spring, summer, or fall,
all you have to do is call
and I'll be there, yeah, yeah, yeah.
You've got a friend.
If the sky above you
should turn dark and full of clouds
and that old north wind should begin to blow
Keep your head together and call my name out loud
and soon I will be knocking upon your door.
You just call out my name and you know wherever I am
I'll come running to see you again.
Winter, spring, summer or fall
all you got to do is call
and I'll be there, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Hey, ain't it good to know that you've got a friend?
People can be so cold.
They'll hurt you and desert you.
Well they'll take your soul if you let them.
Oh yeah, but don't you let them.
You just call out my name and you know wherever I am
I'll come running to see you again.
don't you know that,
Winter spring summer or fall,
Hey now, all you've got to do is call.
Lord, I'll be there, yes I will.
You've got a friend.
You've got a friend.
Okay, now that I shared my "tears to my eyes" song I would like to hear if any of you have a song like this? Hmmmmmmmm? C'mon, I won't tell! :)
Susan

Oh Susan - this is so awesome and I love how you interpreted the lyrics in your card! Just gorgeous! The song that always brings tears to my eyes is "You Are So Beautiful", especially at the end where his voice cracks (Joe Cocker, I think?) It gets me every single time :)

Ahhhhh, Susan, how sweet -- so is the song...lol!!!
Thanks for joining me on the "Earth Day" hop. So glad you liked my soap; if you have any questions, just let me know and I'll get back to you!
Thanks for joining my blog family; can't wait to get to know you better, my friend!
I'll be back as soon as I can to catch up on browsing your blog; however, I've been caring for a relative that's ill right now. This hasn't giving me much time the last couple of weeks to pay as much attention to my blog or blog family but hopefully things are calming down.
I did though want to to drop in to say "hi" and say thanks for becoming a new friend!
I'll be seeing you! (Following you too)!
I love your card. So very pretty. I have loads of songs that bring tears to my eyes, lol. The one that does it most is the song they played when my sons' unit came home from Iraq. As they all entered the autitorium they played this song. I think it is called Proud to Be An American. He purchased me a soldier bear that plays it and I tear up (well, that is putting it lightly) everytime I hear it.
What I great idea, love the card. Good Luck!
Thank you for playing our Simply Sunday Challenge at Getting Cricky.
Hugs,
